June 2008 Nurse Licensure Examination Results

The Official website of the Philippine Board of Nursing is now accessible but there are no new updates on the release of the June 2008 Nursing Board Exam results as of this writing.

I'm wondering what those "reliable sources", "PRC Insiders", and all gossipmongers who predicted that the results will definitely be out on July 20 are saying right now. Correct me if I'm wrong but my calendar says it's July 23 already. Hehe.

I wonder why these people think they are so hip and cool by spreading baseless rumours that do nothing but add to the June 2008 NLE candidates' anxiety.

As soon as the June 2008 Nurse Licensure Examination results are out, the same will be published in leading newspapers nationwide. So if you, a family member, or someone close to you took the nursing board exam last June 1 and 2, make sure to get up early and buy yourself a copy of the PDI, Manila Bulletin, or Philippine Star the day the NLE results are published. These things will surely sell like hotcakes. And knowing how enterprising Filipinos are, newspaper prices might just double.

Wassup, Busy Bee?

I went to this very popular fastfood chain popularized by its Bee mascot. I was not in the mood for lunch so I just ordered a large coke and large fries. I was told that my order amounted to Php69.00 and so I handed the cashier a not-so-crisp five hundred peso bill.

The cashier took the money from me and as I was expecting her to punch the total amount in the cash register and give me the change, she took a few steps away from the machine and crouched a little, took some money from what looked like a cash box, and then walked back to the cash register.

"Uh-oh. This can't be happening again", I mutterred to myself. She handed me my change and then proceeded to prepare my coke and fries. As she came back with my order, I asked for my receipt. To which, she innocently countered: "Kailangan nyo pa ng receipt, ma'am?"

Of course I said yes and then she punched a few keys in the cash register so she can give me an official receipt.

I can't help but wonder if THAT was intentional. Because the last time I checked, business establishments are still obligated to issue official receipts even for transactions below Php100.

My, my. Methinks the bee is not just busy. It has become naughty.:P

Staying Fidel to Toshiba Satellite L30

My favorite techguy just gave my Toshiba Satellite L30 a new lease on life. After days of troubleshooting because of a crippling virus, he decided to restore the laptop to its out-of-box state.

Although there is marked improvement however you analyze its performance (sorry, I cannot elaborate further as I totally suck at things techie), I am a little sad since I had to get rid of files I have accummulated for almost two years in preparation for the major overhaul. I have very limited travelling disk space so I had to play favorites. Aside from very precious photos, I managed to salvage some video and music files from my iTunes music library.

Methinks I will be using this Toshiba laptop as long as I can. Although definitely not 'top-of-the-line', I am professing my fidelity to it as it made so many things possible this past year. It saw me through really rough times and serves as the lifeline of another well-loved gadget, my iPod Touch.

Long live, Toshiba.:)
